In the seas of designer handbags, so many beautiful bags in all details & styles, something about the Balenciaga “Work” size bag in rose gold giant hardware (RGGH) just keeps luring me in that I just can’t get enough of! It’s almost like a drug, I need it in new colors every season and I just can’t help myself obsessing over it. Well, it’s not hard to understand why, because the Balenciaga “Work” bag is just a timeless beauty with a modern twist!
Here is couple photo of the bag under the sunlight in my backyard.
The Balenciaga “Work” bag measures a generously size of 18” L x 10.5” H x 8” D that is big enough to fit all of your essential items, including your entire life - a Loro Piana Cashmere, iPhone, iPad, laptop computer, make-ups, a bottle of Pellegrino and a big September issue size of Vogue magazine can all fit nicely in there.
I’ve always admires Cristóbal Balenciaga’s visions of style that has set the fashion trends since the 50s and still influence fashion designers all over the world today. This past weekend, I had the great pleasure to visit the de Young Museum in San Francisco for the Balenciaga exhibition, needless to say, it was a magical experience. The exhibition includes top examples of the couturier’s designs, the flamenco-style gowns, the fichu stoles and matador-inspired hats, the evening dresses that seemed to follow the austere sweep of a nun’s wimple - borrowed from archives and private collectors. Let’s first watch a video about the exhibition.
Here are some photos from this beautiful exhibition.
Nicolas Ghesquière has done it again with a beautiful collection for Balenciaga Spring Summer 2011. For this collection, they stated a street casting tour from London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Belgium and Australia and after looking through thousands of girls, they eventually picked 7 girls who is totally unknown to the fashion world and Nicolas Ghesquiere called them “Characters”. But then have all the top models such as Gisele Bündchen, Carolyn Murphy, Amber Valletta, Stella Tennant to close the show. The reason for them doing a 6 countries model casting tour is because “I was sick of the clone-model thing," the designer offered as explanation, adding: "It's about individuality." Said by Nicolas Ghesquiere

Tthe French fashion house Balenciaga banned French Vogue editor in chief Carine Roitfeld & her team from their show! This is a shocking news! At the Nina Ricci show, Carine Roitfeld told WWD: “We’re blacklisted, It’s too bad! it’s a beautiful house and it’s French. I hope that it’s not forever.” She noted Balenciaga no longer advertises in the magazine or lends it clothes, but stopped short of giving any reason for the rift. “Ask them,” she offered. A Balenciaga spokesman declined comment. For those who doesn't know who Carnie Roitfeld is, click on the media player below to see a little documentary about her.
It's no secret that the House of Balenciaga, which is owned by Gucci Group/PPR, is super conservative when it comes to their show but to blacklist Carine Roitfeld (who wore Balenciaga to many events) and her Vogue Paris team means something serious happened behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, Balenciaga has received mixed reviews on their runway show and has critics divided on the fall collection, which mixed industrial items such as paper and plastic with more luxurious fabrics. Geomatric collages of stiff yet rounded and contrast the matte and shine then the “recycle” theme of newspaper, plastic bags looking fabric and made it into a blouses is the main theme of the show.
Then the shoes! Block-heeled loafers and brogues with the soles encased in chunks of plastic. I personally think it’s fabulous and would totally rock those shoes when I go out, but to some, it might be a little too much.
The designer of Balenciaga Nicolas Ghesquière has totally push the house of Balenciaga to a new direction, some questions about how they will translate to a wearable version when they arrive to the stores, but since everything has already been done in the history of fashion, we desperately needs experimenting talents like Nicolas to push things forward and he did that with extraordinary skills in his March 4th 2010 show at Paris.
